The Montacute Archaeological Assessment report of the Somerset EUS (Extensive Urban Survey) (download pdf here) documents the history of Montacute in a brilliantly concise report commissioned by English Heritage and prepared by Somerset County Council in 1994-1998 by Clare Gathercole and Miranda Richardson, updated by Chris Webster in 2003.
